According to wikipedia, fine motor skills can be defined as small muscle movements, which occur in the fingers, in coordination with the eyes. These abilities, which involve the use of hands, develop over time, starting with primitive gestures such as grabbing at objects to more precise activities that involve hand-eye coordination.

"...it is a good idea to encourage your child to engage in daily activities that involve precise movements."

Fine motor skills are skills that involve a refined use of the small muscles controlling the hand, fingers, and thumb. The development of these skills allows one to be able to complete important tasks such as writing, drawing, and buttoning.

There are numerous toys on the market that help with proper development of fine motor skills. Classic choices for young children include blocks, lacing beads, puzzles and play dough. For older kids, coloring pictures and using scissors provide excellent opportunities to practice and perfect fine motor skills.

Below is a list of fun, quality toys that help children in the important task of acquiring and practicing fine motor skills.
